Dan Ochieng Agola

Institutional Capacity Strengthening & Rights-Based Approaches Expert

Dan Ochieng Agola is a seasoned development practitioner with over 31 years of experience working with civil society organizations across Africa. His expertise spans program design, execution, and evaluation, with a strong focus on institutional capacity strengthening, results-based monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning and management, rights-based approaches, and transformational leadership. His work has impacted communities in Eastern, Central, the Horn of Africa, Western, and Southern African regions.


A passionate advocate for localization, Dan firmly believes that community-based approaches are key to achieving holistic, equitable, and sustainable development. He has played a pivotal role in developing and applying methodologies that reinforce localization, including a learner-centered and problem-based methodology for participatory learning and the Community Partnerships in Health System Strengthening (CPHSS) dialogue model.


Dan is a founding member and guest lecturer at the Institute of Health Care Management in Nairobi, Kenya. He also provides consultancy services to organizations such as the Partnership for Child Development (PCD), AfricaLead, ASARECA, and PolicyLINK, among others, contributing to impactful programs across Africa and beyond.
