Dr. Joshua Wathanga is an accomplished consultant specializing in policy, strategy, governance, and resilience, with extensive experience spanning over three decades in international development, particularly within pastoral areas. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the United States International University–Africa, focusing on leadership and change management, particularly on corporate governance of dairy cooperatives in Kenya. His educational background also includes an MSc in Population and Development from the London School of Economics, an MBA in Economic Development from Eastern University, USA, and an MSc in Tropical Veterinary Science from the University of Edinburgh.

 

Dr. Wathanga has provided strategic guidance and facilitation for multiple international organizations, including USAID, World Bank, GIZ, FAO, World Vision, and Oxfam. His expertise extends across designing resilience frameworks, facilitating high-level dialogues, and developing strategic policy interventions in food security, public governance, and institutional development. He has facilitated significant regional and continental dialogues for entities such as the IGAD and the Africa Union, leading efforts to enhance cross-border resilience, economic inclusion, and food system sustainability.

 

A recognized authority in organizational development, Dr. Wathanga has moderated high-level summits, driven interactive policy workshops, and crafted strategic documents crucial for national and regional policy formulation. His passion for empowering communities and institutions reflects through his participative approaches, emphasizing human capital, behavioral strategy implementation, and actionable solutions for sustainable development and governance.
